This is a quick dish that requires only a few ingredients. Honestly, when cooking steak, allowing the natural flavor of the meat to shine through without overpowering it with too much seasoning is best.

Ingredients

Olive oil

Garlic granules: can be replaced with onion powder

Herbs de Provence: I adore this herb mix as it instantly elevates the meat’s flavor. You can swap it for Italian seasoning, Cajun seasoning, taco seasoning, steak marinade, or anyone other herbs and spices you prefer.

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

I used rump steak for this recipe, but feel free to pick any steak you love. Sirloin is a great option.

How to prepare air fryer steak bites

Begin by preheating your air fryer to 200°C / 400°F for 3-5 minutes.

Cut the steak into bite-sized cubes if you haven’t already, and place the pieces into a bowl. Season the steak with garlic powder, Herbs de Provence, salt, black pepper, and olive oil, then mix well.

Put the seasoned steak into the preheated air fryer basket, ensuring they’re spread out in a single layer.

Air fry at 200°C / 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway to ensure even cooking.

Toss with garlic butter or your favorite compound butter before serving.

Recipe variations

Steak bites and mushrooms: slice the mushrooms to be nearly the same size as the steak. Season and cook for 10 to 12 minutes or until they reach your desired doneness.

Steak bites and veggies: feel free to use any vegetables you enjoy, but my favorites include bell peppers, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, and onions. You won’t want to miss my air fryer vegetable recipe.

Potatoes and steak: dice the potatoes into bite-sized pieces, parboil for a few minutes (so they cook alongside the steak). Season the potatoes how you like and cook them with the meat. For tips, check my air fryer cubed potatoes recipe.

Mushroom rice

Cucumber salad

Instant pot vegetable couscous

Storage instructions

This recipe is best enjoyed fresh, but if you have any leftovers, let them cool completely before placing them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.

To reheat: warm them in the air fryer at 180°C / 365°F for a few minutes until heated to your liking.

Tips

  • Ensure the steak pieces are of similar size for even cooking.
  • If you have the time, marinate the steak for up to 24 hours for extra flavor.
  • Swap Herbs de Provence with any herbs or seasonings you prefer.
  • Choose high-quality butter for your compound butter.
  • Feel free to use any type of steak, such as ribeye or NY strip. You don’t have to splurge to enjoy a good meal; just cook what you can afford well and enjoy!
  • Any air fryer will work for this recipe, including an oven-style air fryer. Just keep in mind that cooking times may vary between brands. I use Cosori XL, but any brand like Ninja or Gourmia will do just fine too.
